Getsemaní Tour + Champeta Class

Join us on an exploration of Getsemaní, one of Cartagena de Indias' renowned neighborhoods, where you'll also have the chance to participate in a vibrant champeta class—an activity steeped in local culture.

Activity Details

At the scheduled hour, we will gather at the Camellón de los Mártires to kick off our journey through the Getsemaní neighborhood, culminating with an engaging champeta dance lesson.

Our adventure begins at Centennial Park, established to celebrate one hundred years of Colombia's independence. Here, we will wander through its lush green spaces and spot various wildlife, including squirrels, iguanas, and occasionally even sloths. Following our exploration of the park, we will stroll down Paco Street, adorned with its distinctive colorful umbrellas.

To refresh ourselves, we will pause at a local bar in Getsemaní to enjoy a selection of craft beers. After a toast, we will continue our walk along Guerrero St, taking in the beautiful colonial architecture that defines the area. Our next destination is the Plaza de la Trinidad, a lively gathering spot for artists from across the globe.

In this square, we will appreciate the church that stands at its heart and learn about the courageous moments that unfolded here during the struggle for independence. Our journey will then lead us to Calle de las Banderas, also known as Flag St, where we will admire a myriad of street art that embellishes the walls.

To conclude our visit, we will partake in a 30-minute session of champeta dancing, immersing ourselves in one of the most cherished and performed dance styles in Cartagena!

Upon finishing the champeta class, our 2.5-hour experience will wrap up as we bid farewell.
