Your adventure begins around 9 am with a pick-up from your hotel in Cartagena de Indias. Following approximately an hour's drive, we will reach the remarkable village, which boasts a rich history spanning over 300 years.

San Basilio de Palenque is renowned as the first free African town in the Americas, recognized today as a cultural heritage site where a vibrant creole language and distinctive African traditions thrive. During our visit, we will meander through the picturesque streets and uncover the story behind this historic town.

As we explore, you will be captivated by the vividly painted houses and the unique customs that arise from its historical context in music, dance, and traditional medicine. A highlight of the experience will surely be encountering the “Palenqueras”, the brightly attired women selling tropical fruits throughout the streets, who have become true symbols of San Basilio de Palenque.

After our explorations, you will likely have built up an appetite! Fortunately, a delicious traditional lunch featuring local specialties is included. Following the conclusion of the tour, we will return to Cartagena, arriving around 3 pm.
