Day Trip Overview
Your adventure begins at 6 am when you will be collected from your hotel in Cartagena de Indias, embarking on a scenic 1 hour and 40-minute drive to the charming town of San Jacinto Bolivar.
San Jacinto Bolivar, nestled in the Montes de María region, is renowned for its artisanal products such as intricate hammocks and vibrant musical instruments like drums, maracas, and gaitas. Throughout the tour, you will have the opportunity to observe these traditional crafts up close and gain insight into their significance for the local community.
Delving deeper, we will uncover the town's poignant history and discuss its rebuilding process following periods of conflict. A highlight will be the visit to the Community Museum of San Jacinto Bolivar, which showcases the vibrant cultural heritage of the fifteen towns that constitute the Montes de María area.
Our journey will take us to a local workshop focused on crafting bagpipes and drums, along with another site dedicated to weaving, where skilled artisans will demonstrate their techniques in creating stunning pieces from colorful fabrics.
After immersing ourselves in the traditional crafts of San Jacinto Bolivar and their narrative, we will indulge in a typical Caribbean meal featuring options such as meat, chicken, or fish, alongside rice, patacones, and a fresh salad. A vegetarian selection is also available. To enhance this flavorful experience, we will savor traditional coffee from Montes de María—simply delightful!
Our excursion will conclude at around 5 pm, returning you to your accommodations in Cartagena de Indias.
Pickup Location
This tour provides pickup exclusively from hotels situated in the Bocagrande and Laguito zones. If your lodging is outside these regions, please arrange your transportation to Muelle de Los Pegasos, conveniently located in Cartagena's historic center.

Important information
On the day of the activity, the local team will pick you up from your hotel in the Bocagrande and Laguito areas. If you're staying outside these areas, please make your own way to Muelle de Los Pegasos, located in the historic center of Cartagena de Indias.
We recommend being in the hotel lobby 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
