The Rosario Islands Snorkelling + Orika Town Tour

If you have a passion for nature, this excursion departing from Cartagena offers a memorable experience, featuring snorkelling in the Rosario Islands and a visit to the charming town of Orika, a hidden gem situated on Isla Grande.

Tour Overview

The adventure begins with your pickup from your accommodation in Cartagena at the specified time. We will embark on a scenic 1-hour 15-minute drive to the Baru Peninsula, passing through the picturesque towns of Mamonal, Ararca, and Santana. Here, you will board a boat that will take you to one of the stunning Rosario Islands.

Upon reaching Isla Grande, there will be a brief 20-minute preparation period for snorkelling, during which we will provide important insights about preserving the environment and the significance of the marine ecosystem. You will learn about coral reefs and the ongoing conservation initiatives aimed at maintaining the marine biodiversity in this area.

Subsequently, we will board a speedboat to navigate around the coral reefs surrounding Isla Grande for approximately 35 minutes, followed by an exhilarating 40-minute snorkelling session. Are you excited to dive into the vibrant underwater world?

After snorkelling, we will make our way to the community of Orika, known for its African-palanquero heritage, located on Isla Grande. Here, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in local culture through their stories and traditions while exploring the area. In Orika, a delightful traditional lunch featuring fish and rice with coconut will be served, perfectly reflecting the town's cultural identity and its close bond with nature.

Post-lunch, we will return to the speedboat and head towards a mangrove reserve on Isla Grande, where we’ll enjoy a 30-minute stop. Finally, we will reach Playa Tranquila Beach, providing you with free time to unwind, bask in the sun, take a swim, and appreciate the serene environment. You will also have access to the beach club equipped with sun loungers, shaded areas, hammocks, bars, and lockers.

The tour concludes with your drop-off at your hotel in Cartagena de Indias approximately 12 hours after we begin. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

This excursion includes pickup exclusively from lodgings situated in the Bocagrande and Laguito neighborhoods. If your accommodation is located outside these areas, you are kindly requested to make your way to Muelle de Los Pegasos, located in the historic center of Cartagena de Indias.
