The Rosario Islands Snorkelling + Orika Town Tour

If you have a passion for nature, this excursion from Cartagena offers a wonderful opportunity to go snorkelling in the Rosario Islands and explore the charming town of Orika, a hidden gem on Isla Grande.

Tour Overview

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cartagena at the scheduled time, followed by a scenic 1 hour and 15 minutes drive to the Baru Peninsula. During the journey, you'll pass through the towns of Mamonal, Ararca, and Santana, leading to our boat launch point where we'll set out to one of the Rosario Islands.

Upon reaching Isla Grande, we will dedicate about 20 minutes for preparation and adherence to environmental guidelines before snorkelling. An informative session will highlight the crucial role of coral reefs and ongoing conservation initiatives aimed at preserving marine life in this area.

Afterward, we will board a speedboat to navigate the stunning coral reefs of Isla Grande for an exhilarating 35-minute exploration, followed by a 40-minute snorkelling session. Get ready to witness the breathtaking underwater world!

Next, we will journey to the town of Orika, a vibrant community of African-palanquero descent situated on Isla Grande. Here, you'll immerse yourself in local culture through their stories and traditions as we stroll through the area. In Orika, savor a taste of the local fare with a traditional lunch of fish and coconut rice, set against the backdrop of the town’s innate connection to nature.

After lunch, we will return to the speedboat for a visit to a mangrove reserve on Isla Grande, where we will pause for 30 minutes to appreciate the serene environment. Our final destination will be Playa Tranquila Beach, where you’ll have ample free time to unwind, swim, and take in the natural beauty. Access to a beach club equipped with loungers, shaded areas, hammocks, bars, and lockers will also be at your disposal.

The tour concludes with a return drop-off at your hotel in Cartagena de Indias, around 12 hours after departing. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
