Tubará Day Trip

On this day trip to Tubará from Cartagena, participants will explore the indigenous traditions of the Mokaná community and enjoy a leisurely walk along the beach of Puerto Velero.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Camellón de los Mártires, located in the heart of Cartagena de Indias, and from there, we will embark on a day trip to the municipality of Tuburá.

Following approximately a 2-hour journey, we'll arrive at our destination. Tubará takes pride in its indigenous roots, being one of the few places where the Mokaná ethnic group resides.

A representative from this community will greet us, and during a village walk, they will share insights about their customs and lifestyle. The Mokaná community is actively reviving their traditions; their original language was part of the Malibu languages, although it remains poorly documented.

After this enlightening experience, we'll visit other attractions in Tubará. Participants will enjoy an easy 1.5-hour walk  along natural trails, which will guide us to viewpoints showcasing spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.

At midday, a restaurant on the beach of Puerto Velero will host us, where guests can savor the flavors of the Colombian Caribbean with a delicious lunch of fresh fish. Post-meal, there will be 1.5 hours of free time to relax in this idyllic setting and take a refreshing dip in the sea.

The day trip culminates with a short workshop. Here, a craftsman will demonstrate the traditional techniques of the region, allowing participants to take home a piece crafted on-site, featuring a total immersion in the local culture.

Lastly, we'll return to the starting point, concluding the experience with a goodbye after a total of 9 hours.
