At the designated time, we gather at the Hotel Astoria in Coimbra. Once all participants are assembled, we will begin our adventure into the breathtaking natural terrains and quaint villages of Portugal’s Central System mountain range. Ready for the exploration? Let’s get underway!

Our first destination will be Serra de Lousã, accessible by bus. We will commence our visit in the charming village of Cerdeira, nestled within the mountains. This area has been beautifully restored, featuring delightful homes that harmoniously integrate with the surrounding landscape, constructed from shale stones, clay, and warm wood.

Next, we will explore some of the picturesque Xisto villages, such as Candal. Tucked away in the mountains on a southward slope, we will stroll through its enchanting streets, ascending to a viewpoint that offers stunning vistas of the valley below. The view will surely reward your efforts!

Additionally, we will visit the village of Talasnal, renowned as the largest and most well-preserved of the area. Here, you can roam among the striking slate houses, majestic oaks, and cork trees, navigating through narrow cobblestone paths that evoke a scene from a fairy tale.

As our day draws to a close, we will make our way back to the hotels in Coimbra, concluding our exploration of Portugal’s breathtaking rural wilderness.
