Córdoba Guided Tour + Mosque Entrance
Description
Plunge into the fascinating history of Al-Andalus by visiting the impressive Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, followed by a guided tour of the city’s Jewish Quarter.
Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in central Córdoba and embark on a tour of the world-famous Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba.
We'll explore the Mosque-Cathedral, learning about Abd al-Rahman I, founder of the Muslim dynasty of Iberia and the site's commissioner in the 8th century. We will admire the artwork and architecture of the mosque’s dome and mihrab, revealing the history of the Muslim dynasty during Abd al-Rahman III's reign and its transformation into a Roman Catholic Cathedral after the conquest by King Ferdinand III of Castile.
After the Mosque-Cathedral, we'll proceed on a walking tour of Córdoba's Jewish Quarter. This area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features charming whitewashed houses.
During the walking tour, you will visit the Synagogue of Córdoba, one of three remaining Medieval Jewish temples in Spain.
