Alqueva Lake Boat Trip
Description
Embark on a journey across a vast reservoir while appreciating the majesty of ancient oak trees. This excursion on Lake Alqueva showcases some of Portugal’s most remarkable inland landscapes.
Alqueva Lake Boat Excursion
We will gather at a time convenient for you at the Alqueva reservoir, where a boat awaits to commence our exploration of one of Europe’s largest man-made lakes. Let the exploration commence!
As we navigate the waters, you will learn about the origins of the dam and the biodiversity of the Guadiana river that sustains it. Our route includes the charming Herdade Monte da Tapada hill and the entrance of the Degebe river, which winds into the reservoir.
We will also cruise around the scenic small islands within the lake and, weather permitting, seek a spot for a refreshing swim.
Following a delightful 1.5-hour boat tour, you’re invited to visit the Alqueva Interpretation Centre, where a documentary reveals how this region of Portugal has evolved due to the dam and its irrigation resources.
