Your journey begins at 9 am with a pick-up from your hotel in Algiers, followed by a drive to the historic heart of the city.
The adventure kicks off with a guided exploration of the Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its rich historical, artistic, and cultural significance. As we navigate through the narrow, winding streets adorned in traditional Arab architecture, we'll delve into the area's compelling history, intricately tied to Mediterranean commerce.
Continuing our trek through the Kasbah, we will pause before the impressive Ketchaoua Mosque, whose roots trace back to the 15th century. Here, we'll take a moment to appreciate the stunning tiles that embellish the upper façade, particularly the vibrant hues of blue, green, and violet.
Next, we will proceed to the charming Basilica of Our Lady of Africa. While we observe the intricate details of its exterior design, you'll learn about the connections this Catholic church shares with the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde located in Marseille across the Mediterranean.
Standing at the steps of the Basilica of Our Lady of Africa, you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic vistas of the Bay of Algiers. Once you're refueled, we will visit the beautifully maintained Hamma Botanical Garden, a public haven rich with the delightful scents of blooming flowers. Our final stop will be at the Martyrs' Monument, where you'll have the chance to capture sweeping photographs at this commemorative site inaugurated on the 20th anniversary of Algeria's independence from France.
At the conclusion of our tour, we'll transport you back to your hotel in Algiers, with an arrival time around 5 pm.
