Embark on an adventurous journey driving an off-roading vehicle across Cerro Huyliche, where you will encounter stunning landscapes, ancient marine fossils, and intriguing natural caves. This excursion promises an exhilarating experience behind the wheel of an off-roader!

Activity Details

At the agreed time, we will collect you from your accommodation in El Calafate. A brief 10-minute drive will take us to Estancia Huyliche, the launch point for this exciting off-roading experience. Here, you will receive your off-roading buggies along with all the guidance needed for safe driving.

Our journey will commence with a 2-hour trip up the paths of Cerro Huyliche through the Arroyo Calafate canyon, traversing steppe and mountainous terrain in a convoy. While we ascend, be prepared to marvel at the breathtaking views of Lake Argentino, the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, and the Andes Mountains, capturing stunning visuals of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre on clear days.

Upon reaching the Upper Balcony at an altitude of 1,100 meters (3,600 feet), we will start our descent along the southern slope towards the Arroyo Moyano canyon, known for the Stone Labyrinth. This fascinating geological structure, shaped by wind erosion over millennia, is rich in marine fossils, remarkable rocks, and natural caves, making it an ideal spot for captivating photography.

We will then pause to savor hot soup, a snack, and a drink amidst the natural surroundings. Afterward, we will continue our descent between Cerro Huyliche and Cerro Calafate before heading back to the ranch.

To conclude this enriching experience, we will serve a traditional Patagonian meal. Depending on the timing of your departure, this may be lunch, dinner, or an afternoon snack. The meal could feature a meat empanada or pumpkin soup, beef stew, and a brownie, or for the afternoon, hot beverages paired with homemade pastries.

Ultimately, we will transport you back to your hotel, marking the end of this 3-hour tour.

What are the Buggies Like?

The excursion utilizes buggies accommodating one driver and up to two passengers, following the lead vehicle. Each buggy is assigned to a single group, ensuring exclusive use without sharing with other participants during the trip.

Activity Requirements

• A valid driver's license is essential to operate the vehicle. Participants can alternate driving if they fulfill the required criteria.
• This activity is unsuitable for individuals with reduced mobility, pregnant women, those with back, neck, or vertigo concerns, and participants weighing over 120 kilograms (265 lbs) or measuring over 2 meters (6.6 ft) in height.
