Description

This adventure starts at 8 am in Quero Park, as we embark on a hiking expedition towards the impressive Cerro Igualata. Towering at 4,385 meters (14,385 feet) above sea level, this natural landmark straddles the border of Tungurahua and Chimborazo provinces, offering stunning views.

Following our initial meeting, we will head towards a hacienda located on the outskirts of Quero, where our trek will take us toward the southern border of the estate. This captivating journey covers a distance of 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) through one of the few páramo ecosystems in Tungurahua.

During the next five hours, we will traverse this remarkable landscape, uncovering its distinct characteristics. As we navigate, we will examine the diverse plant species that inhabit the area along with the varied wildlife thriving within this tropical setting, while sharing intriguing insights.

Midway through our adventure, we’ll pause for a well-deserved sandwich break. Refreshed and reenergized, we will begin our return trek through an expansive pine forest, following the scenic Toro Singuna trail. If fortune smiles upon us, we may even spot some of the diverse wildlife that inhabits this region.

After our excursion concludes at the hacienda, a delightful traditional lunch will be served, allowing you to experience local culinary delights. You will also have some free time to explore the estate's surroundings at your leisure.

At the end of the day, after a total of nine hours together, we will reconvene at our starting point in Quero to bid farewell.
