Quero Horseback Riding Tours
Description
This horseback riding experience in Quero invites you to explore the stunning landscapes of Tungurahua province in an engaging manner, ideal for those who appreciate nature and animals.
Available Tours
When you make your reservation, you can select from the following horseback riding excursions in Quero. Each tour is designed to begin and conclude at Quero Park, including an English-speaking guide, riding gear, refreshments, lunch with a beverage, along with access to the hacienda's amenities.
Igualata Moorland Tour (9 hours)
We will meet at 8 am at Quero Park, where you'll be greeted and escorted to Hacienda Hipolongo. Are you ready to embark on a journey across the Igualata moorland?
Upon arrival at the hacienda, we'll prepare the horses and brief you on the route to the highest points of Igualata. During the ride, our guide will share fascinating details about the local flora and fauna. Stay alert! Wildlife such as wolves, rabbits, and eagles might cross our path.
Your ride will continue through the moorland to the Pampa de Guayama, where, if fortune smiles upon us, we might spot some wild cattle.
A short snack break will follow, allowing you 30 minutes to recharge. Following the rest, we will ride back to the hacienda for a delightful lunch.
Quero Farms Tour (8 hours)
Our adventure begins at 9 am as we travel to the hacienda. Once there, you'll meet the horses, mount up, and commence the ride, which will highlight the significance of agriculture in the Quero region.
Throughout the journey, we'll explore the lifestyle of chagras, or cattle ranchers, and gain insights into their daily routines. This is an opportunity to witness various farm animals and learn age-old techniques and traditions still utilized in farming and animal care.
Upon returning to Hacienda Hipolongo, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch and then you may explore the farm facilities before heading back to Quero.
Two-Day Tour
For those seeking a deeper adventure, our two-day horseback riding tour offers a chance to select your preferred path. On the first day, you can opt for either of the previously mentioned tours—will it be the Igualata moorland or the Quero farms?
After the tour, we will head back to the hacienda for a Creole-style lunch, participate in various farm activities, and in the afternoon, enjoy a hot drink at Café de la Niebla. Following this, we will visit the La Quereñita brewery located in San José de Puñachisac.
The day will conclude with a delicious dinner beside the fireplace, accompanied by tales and local legends.
The next day, we will kick off with a traditional breakfast. Before heading back to Quero, feel free to enjoy the facilities of Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo until 10 am, at which point a check-out will occur.
