Ticket for the 1873 Observatory
During your booking process, you will have the chance to select from the options outlined below. Regardless of the choice made, reaching the 1873 Observatory on the Cerro del Vigía in Mazatlán at your scheduled time is essential.
Access to the 1873 Observatory
Constructed by the local inhabitants of Mazatlán, the renowned 1873 Observatory is perched on the Cerro del Vigia, rising 246 feet (75 meters) above sea level.
Your self-guided experience at the 1873 Observatory commences with a brief film that highlights the history of Mazatlán. Following this, you will board the funicular, which earned the title of Elevator World magazine's Project of the Year in 2021.
Once aboard, you can visit a charming house-museum adorned with 19th-century furnishings. Be sure to also see the distillery, which features a recreated mezcal simulator. We recommend taking a moment to visit El Nido bird sanctuary, home to over 70 species including macaws, parrots, parakeets, flamingos, toucans, iguanas, and turtles.
Additional highlights of your visit include the Cueva del Patrón, a historical dungeon of the Cerro del Vigía, as well as the agaviarium, a unique desert garden situated near the largest natural lighthouse globally.
