Your journey will commence with a pick-up from your accommodation in Villa Unión at the designated time, from where we will embark in an offroading vehicle along the renowned National Route 40.

Once we feel recharged, our offroad journey will advance along a mountain path leading us to the Sierra de Famatina. Here, you will encounter the breathtaking scenes of the Pesebre and Ocre canyons; the latter is notably recognized for its striking yellow tones that contrast beautifully with the expansive landscape.

Next, we will ascend to a remarkable elevation of 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) above sea level to visit the La Mexicana Mine. This site was a significant hub for gold and silver extraction during the late 19th and early 20th centuries within La Rioja province.

While at this significant historical site, you will gain a deeper understanding of the techniques employed to extract valuable metals. Furthermore, you will discover the fascinating history of the cable car system that was once essential for transporting gold and silver to the town of Chilecito.

Upon concluding our exploration of the La Mexicana Mine, we will return you to your hotel in Villa Unión, with an expected arrival time about 12 hours after our pick-up.

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at the hotel in Villa Union that you indicated when you made your reservation. Please be ready a few minutes beforehand.

Remember that the excursion does not include lunch. We recommend having a big breakfast and bringing fruit, water, and a light snack for the day, since eating a big meal at such a high altitude isn't recommended.
