Los Haitises National Park Boat Ride + Altos de Caño Hondo Natural Pools

Experience a boat excursion through the Los Haitises National Park, complemented by a swim in the 14 natural pools featuring waterfalls at Hotel Altos de Caño Hondo. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable adventure in the scenic northern coast of the Dominican Republic.

Tour Overview

We will gather at the lobby of Hotel Altos de Caño Hondo at the scheduled time. Situated on the outskirts of Sabana de la Mar, a short 10-minute drive will take us to the Caño Hondo pier.

Commencing our 2-hour boat ride through Los Haitises National Park, we will glide through the lush mangroves of this ecological treasure and venture towards San Lorenzo Bay. The journey will lead us to the Cayo de Los Pájaros and the historic Pier La Perla.

Our exploration will then continue as we visit the La Arena Cave and La Línea Cave, two extraordinary sites adorned with ancient paintings and petroglyphs left by indigenous peoples. After thoroughly exploring these caves, we will return to our boat and set off back to the Caño Hondo pier.

Upon returning, we’ll make our way back to Hotel Altos de Caño Hondo, where you can relax and savor a delightful Criollan lunch. This meal features a variety of dishes, including green salad, potato salad, minutas de pescado (savory, fried fish fillets), chicharrón de pollo (crispy chicken), pasta, white rice, string beans, moro de gandules con coco (a traditional Dominican rice dish with beans and coconut), and a sweet coconut dessert. Beverages like mineral water, soft drinks, or coffee with milk will be available.

After your meal, unwind at the hotel's terrace, where you can enjoy 4 hours of leisure time to explore the enchanting 14 natural pools with waterfalls in Caño Hondo!
