Pompeii + Herculaneum Day Trip

The eruption of Mount Vesuvius had a catastrophic impact on the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. This day trip allows us to explore and understand how these remarkable places once thrived.

Description

A designated time will see us begin our journey with a pickup at your selected meeting point, followed by a drive towards the remnants of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, famously buried under the ash and lava from Vesuvius during the eruption in 79 AD.

Upon arrival at this significant archaeological site, a professional guide will lead us on a two-hour guided tour through Pompeii. You will have the chance to witness notable landmarks, such as the House of the Faun, Amphitheatre, and the House of Menander.

What was daily life like for the residents of Pompeii? Were they able to predict the catastrophic eruption? These questions will be explored in depth as we navigate through the ancient city. Post-exploration, enjoy one hour of free time to savor lunch at a nearby eatery.

After our meal, the excursion will move on to Herculaneum, another Roman town devastated by the lava flow in 79 AD. Here, you will encounter remarkably preserved structures, including the Casa dei Cervi (House of Deer) and the Sacello degli Augustali (Shrine of Augustales).

The guided tour in Herculaneum concludes with a visit to a local cameo workshop, where the art of creating these exquisite accessories will be demonstrated. We will finish our day by returning to the initial meeting points, approximately six hours after departure.

Pickup Points

When booking, you have the option to set off from either Amalfi or Maiori. Below are the specified meeting locations for both towns:

• Tour from Amalfi: the pickup will take place at Piazza Flavio Gioia.
• Tour from Maiori: the pickup point is Via Giovanni Amendola, 21.
