Beginning at 10 am, your adventure starts with a pickup from your accommodation in La Vega, as we embark on a private exploration of this historically significant city, unearthing captivating truths about Christianity along the way.
Our first destination will be Duarte Park, where we'll take a moment to admire the stunning Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Inside this grandeur basilica, we will uncover intricate symbolic details—pay special attention to the reoccurring number 12 found on stained glass, doors, and various elements, reflecting its significance in Christian teachings. Additionally, observe the artistic drapes representing the heavens and the delicate symbols of sin interwoven throughout the architecture.
After our visit to the Cathedral, we will continue to the Sacred Museum, wandering through its well-curated rooms showcasing valuable relics and Taíno figures. Following that, we will ascend to the Church of Our Lady of Mercedes situated in Santo Cerro, where you will learn about the intriguing legend surrounding the cross of Columbus, as well as the history of the indigenous peoples and the Virgin Mary.
Our journey will conclude at La Vega Vieja, the site of the original settlement founded by colonists, which once housed a town council and various institutions before it was tragically lost to an earthquake in 1562.
We will then return to our starting point, wrapping up our tour by 1:30 pm.
