Your adventure begins promptly at 10 am when we collect you from your hotel in La Vega for an exclusive private tour. While traversing the city, you'll uncover captivating details about the history of Christianity.
Your first destination will be Duarte Park, followed by the striking Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Inside this remarkable basilica, pay attention to the intricate symbolic elements... Look for the significant number 12 depicted in stained glass, doors, and other features, as it carries deep meaning within Christianity. Additionally, you'll notice heavenly clouds in the drapery along with subtle representations of sin integrated into the architecture.
After our exploration of the Cathedral, we will proceed to the Sacred Museum. Within its various rooms, you'll find a treasure trove of priceless relics and Taíno artifacts. Soon after, we will ascend to the Church of Our Lady of Mercedes, situated in Santo Cerro. Here, you'll uncover the legend of the cross of Columbus, insights into the indigenous people, and the significance of the Virgin Mary.
Our journey will conclude at La Vega Vieja, the site of the first settlement established by early colonists with its town council and various institutions. Tragically, this settlement was lost to an earthquake in 1562.
Following our immersive experience, we'll return you to the starting location, wrapping up the tour at approximately 1:30 pm.
