Day Trip to Takayama & Shirakawago
We will gather at the west exit of Nagoya Station at the scheduled time. Our journey begins as we travel by bus for approximately two hours to discover the gems of Takayama and Shirakawago.
Upon our arrival in Takayama, a quaint city nestled in the Hida Mountains, we will take a leisurely walk along Sannomachi Street in the historic district. Here, you can admire the traditional wooden houses and temples that line the narrow streets. Have you heard about the fascinating Sarubobo Dolls? Learn about their significance during your visit!
You will have free time to savor a delightful meal at a nearby restaurant, as we will recommend some of the most authentic dining establishments in Takayama to sample traditional Japanese dishes. After your meal, we will explore Miyagawa and Jinya-mae, two bustling markets where you can observe the daily lives of locals.
Next, we will continue our journey to Shirakawago, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once we arrive, we will stroll through its picturesque streets and marvel at the triangular thatched roofs of its historic homes. These residences, many over 250 years old, give insight into Japan’s rural lifestyle.
Additionally, we will have the opportunity to visit the Ogimachi Castle Observatory Deck for stunning views over the enchanting villages of Gassho-mura and Mount Hakusan. Our final stop will be at the popular Ochiudo Cafe, known for its lively ambiance.
At the end of our day, we will return to Nagoya, arriving back at our departure point after approximately 10 hours.

Day Trip to Takayama & Shirakawago + Viewpoint
same itinerary detailed above. Additionally, in the village of Shirakawago, you will have the chance to ascend to a viewpoint after our café visit. A shuttle bus will be provided to reach the viewpoint, with this service included in your tour.
This variant extends the duration of the trip by 30 minutes, with a departure time at 8:30 am.

Important information
On the day of the activity, we'll meet at Nagoya Station, at the entrance to the MINI STOP convenience store, which is found behind the BIC CAMERA at the west exit of the station.

The guide will be holding a yellow flag.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes in advance.

Important Info
A day before the activity, you'll receive an email with the information to contact the guide and the bus' number plate. Make sure that you'll have access to your email and phone number.
Additional Info
- Due to traffic congestion during public holidays in Japan, adverse weather conditions or other force majeure circumstances, adjustments to the itinerary may be necessary, including reduction of sightseeing time or cancellation of certain attractions.
- Children under 3 can travel for free but won't have their own seat on the bus. They must sit on the lap of one of their parents or guardians.
- You can bring one piece of baggage for free. Any additional pieces will imply an additional cost of 2000JPY each.
