At the scheduled time, we will meet you at your accommodation to commence this enlightening exploration of Sucre’s churches, a destination renowned for its impressive religious architectural legacy. Remarkably, the city boasts a church on nearly every block.

Your adventure will initiate at the Recoleta Monastery, situated in its namesake neighborhood. Established by Franciscan monks in 1601, this sanctuary, comprising a church and a museum, offers a serene atmosphere filled with tranquility.

As we stroll through its stunning cloisters, we will encounter an ancient tree in one area, while another cloister provides breathtaking views of the Churuquella hill. We will enter the convent’s church, where a wood-carved choir and an impressive collection of colonial and republican-era paintings await our admiration.

Our next destination is the convent of Santa Clara, a truly spiritual site. Here, we will observe notable artworks by renowned Bolivian artists, intricate wooden sculptures, and even a 17th-century organ, which is reserved for significant ceremonies.

Following this, we will continue to the convent of San Felipe Neri, a representation of grandeur and opulence from the thriving colonial era. From its majestic terraces, adorned with towers and vibrant domes, we can take in a stunning panoramic view of Sucre’s skyline, embellished with its numerous bell towers.
