Embark on an exciting journey through northern Iceland, departing from Akureyri, where you will have the opportunity to discover three of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the nation: Godafoss, Selfoss, and Dettifoss.

Diamond Circle Exploration

At the appointed time, our team will collect you from your accommodation in Akureyri to commence this adventure around the renowned Diamond Circle in northern Iceland.

Our first destination will be the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall, often referred to as the "waterfall of the gods." This site holds significant historical importance, marking the beginning of the Christianisation of Iceland. After learning about its rich past, we will move on to Lake Mývatn, where the unique volcanic landscape awaits exploration.

Next, we will make our way to the Reykjadalur Valley and the Skutustadir Craters. Continuing along the Diamond Circle route, we will arrive at Dimmuborgir to marvel at its striking lava formations, which date back over 2000 years. You will have the chance to walk through the intriguing "dark castles" and visit the Grjótagjá Cave.

We will also stop to admire the Selfoss and Dettifoss waterfalls, noted as some of the most powerful cascades in Iceland. As we approach the concluding segments of the Diamond Circle, we will explore the hot springs of Grjótagja. You will have free time to relax in the thermal baths located near Lake Mývatn and experience their therapeutic benefits.

As the day draws to a close, our journey will take us by Eyjafjordur, allowing you to appreciate the breathtaking views of its deep fjord. Following a moment for photography, we will return you to your hotel in Akureyri, wrapping up this comprehensive 9-hour excursion.
