Details of the Day Trip

We will begin our adventure by picking you up at your accommodation in Tunis at the agreed time. Prepare for an enriching experience filled with historical significance, picturesque landscapes, and delightful spots. Let’s embark on this journey!

After approximately one hour on the road, our first destination will be Útica, an ancient Phoenician settlement that boasts over 3000 years of history, making it one of the oldest towns in northern Africa. Here, we will take a guided tour lasting between 30 to 45 minutes to delve into the wonders of its Roman forum, temples, amphitheater, and the thermal baths. A visit to the Waterfall House is also essential. Founded around 1100 B.C., this key ally of Carthage played a vital role during the Punic Wars, allowing you to step back in time!

Continuing our journey, we will arrive at Ghar el-Melh in about 45 minutes. This charming town, steeped in Phoenician, Roman, and Ottoman heritage, offers a 30-minute exploration of this historic strategic port, recognized as the first Ramsar Wetland Accredited City in northern Africa. You will admire its marshes while enjoying a scenic drive along the lake.

Next, we will proceed to the vibrant city of Bizerte, located an hour away. Here, you’ll visit Qsiba, the fortified area that encircles the harbor and embodies the city’s historical essence. We will stroll through its quaint narrow streets lined with whitewashed structures until we arrive at the Venetian-inspired old port. A visit to its impressive fortress, which once defended the city from maritime threats, is also on the agenda. This location beautifully showcases the blend of Mediterranean allure with Arab-Muslim culture!

You will have an hour of free time for lunch before heading to one of the continent's most iconic spots: Cape Angela. In about 30 minutes, we will reach this rocky outcrop, recognized as the northern tip of Africa. We’ll spend between 30 minutes to an hour here, taking in the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and capturing memorable photos. Nature enthusiasts will find this stop particularly rewarding!

To conclude this memorable day, we will visit Ichkeul National Park, a natural haven recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will enjoy a 30-minute hike leading to a panoramic viewpoint that reveals breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding landscape. This sanctuary is home to numerous migratory birds, including flamingos, storks, and geese.

Ultimately, we will return to Tunis, where we will bid farewell at your hotel approximately 9 hours after the journey began.
