Lake Frías Hike & Glacier Boat Trip
Description
Experience the awe-inspiring natural beauty of one of the world's most remarkable landscapes on the Lake Frías Hike and Glacier Boat Trip. Traverse through lush lenga beech forests and expansive glacial valleys, while enjoying a scenic boat ride within the Los Glaciares National Park.
Boat Trip Overview
At the designated time, you will be collected from your accommodation in El Calafate and guided to the renowned Los Glaciares National Park, a key gem of Argentine Patagonia.
Our journey begins with a stop at the Los Pioneros harbor for an engaging 1-hour boat trip. As we navigate through one of the strikingly beautiful areas of Lake Argentino, you will disembark at the South Arm, where our initial hiking adventure commences.
This hike spans approximately 1.2 miles (2 km) and leads us to the tranquil shores of Lake Frías. Here, we’ll hop onto a Zodiac boat to glide across the lake to the opposite shore. Upon landing, we’ll embark on a second hiking route that stretches over 2.8 miles (4.5 km), taking us through a captivating forest of ancient lenga beech trees and winding through a stunning glacial valley.
We will continue our trek towards the spectacular Lake Frías Superior area, a breathtaking expanse dotted with icebergs. From this vantage point, you will be treated to stunning panoramic vistas of the Dickson, Cubo, and Grande glaciers.
As we soak in the scenery, you will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch featuring fresh sandwiches with ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato, along with a cereal bar, dried fruits, an alfajor (a local confection), assorted sweets, fruit, mineral water, and orange juice.
Once revitalized, we will return to our starting point by boat and retrace our steps along the first hiking path. We will then make our way back to your hotel in El Calafate, concluding a memorable 12-hour experience.
