Perito Moreno Glacier Night Tour

Overview

This park is a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring 47 glaciers, including the famous Perito Moreno Glacier located 80 km from El Calafate. Perito Moreno is notable as one of the few advancing glaciers in the world, creating spectacular calving events.

Glacier Details

The glacier reaches a height of 60 m, periodically shedding massive ice walls into the waters of Brazo Rico or the Canal de los Témpanos. As it advances toward the Magallanes Peninsula, it can divide the lake, causing the water level of Brazo Rico to rise approximately 35 m. Over 4 to 6 years, a tunnel forms in the glacier leading to dramatic collapses, creating gigantic waves.

Nocturnal Experience

An evening experience to view the Perito Moreno Glacier under the moonlight is available during full moon nights in the 2025-26 period, authorized by National Parks.

Itinerary

- Pick up from hotels in El Calafate. - Entrance presentation at the National Parks with digital tickets. - Photographic stop at Los Suspiros view point (10 minutes). - Hot beverage at the first balcony with a view of the glacier. - Toast under the moonlight. - Return to El Calafate.

Due to the late sunsets in Patagonia Austral, timings will adjust monthly: - March 1, 2, 3: 19:00 to 12:00 - March 31, April 1, 2: 19:00 to 12:00 A mandatory entrance fee to National Parks applies, except if visitors have a valid ticket from another service on the excursion day.
