Perito Moreno Glacier Mini Trekking Tour
Description
Explore the untamed landscapes of Patagonia as you embark on a mini trekking adventure on the breathtaking Perito Moreno Glacier.
Activity Overview
We'll gather at the specified time at Bajo Las Sombras port, where our journey begins with a ferry ride across Lake Rico. The crossing takes approximately 20 minutes, offering views of the majestic south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Upon arrival, we will be greeted by professional mountain guides who will escort us to a nearby shelter. From here, a short trail along the lakeshore, approximately 1 km long, awaits us. This is an informative segment featuring a presentation on the fundamentals of glaciology, with a special focus on the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Upon reaching the glacier’s edge, the guides will divide participants into groups no larger than 20. A brief safety briefing will precede the fitting of crampons, which will prepare us for our ice hike. This 1.5-hour expedition will allow us to observe various glacier features including cracks, meltwater streams, seracs, and lagoons. At the conclusion of our ice trek, we'll enjoy a refreshing drink with glacier ice before retracing our steps to the refuge via a footbridge that traverses the lush Andean Patagonian forest.
To conclude the experience, you may opt for a boat ride back to the port or proceed overland to the footbridges, where expansive views of the glacier can be enjoyed from various vantage points.
