Torres del Paine Day Trip + Lake Pehoé Hike

Embark on a remarkable day trip to Torres del Paine National Park, where you'll traverse stunning landscapes aboard an all-terrain vehicle. As you journey through the picturesque settings of lakes and the adjacent Patagonian Desert of Argentina and Chile, prepare for an outstanding hiking adventure to Lake Pehoé, one of the prime lakes found within Torres del Paine.

Day Trip Details

Are you prepared for an exceptional experience? We'll begin by collecting you from your accommodation in El Calafate. Once settled in the off-road bus, we will commence our expedition, crossing the expansive Patagonian Desert towards the Cancha Carrera border crossing. The drive across the vast plains marks an ideal start to our journey!

After an approximate journey of 3 hours and 15 minutes, we will officially enter Chile and make a stop at the café El Ovejero, located near Cerro Castillo. This break allows you to stretch and savor a coffee while we also provide a packed lunch for you to enjoy on the bus or during further stops.

As we navigate ranch roads, we will encounter Bahía El Bote, the doorway to Torres del Paine National Park. Following that, we will visit the stunning Sarmiento viewpoint, where the majestic Cordillera Paine looms ahead, its peaks jutting dramatically from the landscape. Remember to capture this breathtaking view!

Next, we will officially enter the park, meandering alongside the Serrano River. We’ll make a brief stop at the Laguna Amarga viewpoint for photographs, then proceed towards the cascada del río Paine, where we’ll prepare our cameras for stunning shots of the massif with the waterfall enhancing the scene.

Continuing on, we'll arrive at Nordenskjöld Lake, renowned for its vibrant turquoise waters. If fortune smiles upon us, you may spot guanacos grazing on the hills and condors soaring overhead.

Our adventure leads us to the stunning Los Cuernos viewpoint, where we will lace up our boots for a hike of approximately 2.86 mi (4.6 km) to the sandy shores of Lake Pehoé. During this trek, the proximity to the Torres del Paine will be so intimate that it will feel as if you could reach out and touch them.

Following this unforgettable hike, we will continue our journey by bus, making a pair of final stops for photos at the Salto Grande and Lake Pehoé viewpoints. Here, the brilliant turquoise waters stand in striking contrast to the imposing mountain backdrop.

Eventually, we'll head back via a different route to the border, undertaking immigration procedures once more. We’ll return to El Calafate, concluding our day trip with your drop-off at the hotel after approximately 15 hours. What an incredible day!
