Lisbon Day Trip
Description
Experience the charm of the Belém Tower, the grandeur of the Praça do Comércio, and the elegance of the Palace of Ajuda on this captivating journey through Lisbon, where the essence of the Portuguese capital awaits you.
Tour Overview
Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel at the designated time, setting the stage for an exploration of the rich heritage, culture, and stunning architecture that defines Lisbon.
Upon arrival, our first destination is the historic neighborhood of Belém, where we will delve into its significant contribution during the Age of Exploration. As we stroll, marvel at the Jerónimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. Indulge in the local tradition of tasting Pastéis de nata, the iconic custard tarts that started here.
Next, we will explore the Belém Tower, a quintessential representation of Manueline architecture, originally constructed to safeguard Lisbon's entrance via the Tagus River. Additionally, we will admire the Monument to the Discoveries, dedicated to celebrating the 500th anniversary of Henry the Navigator's legacy.
Just a short distance away lies the Palace of Ajuda, which served as the home of the royal family until the 19th century and now boasts an exquisite collection of decorative arts. Inside, explore the music room, ballroom, throne room, and various chambers that portray the opulence of royal life.
Our journey will lead us through the winding streets of the Alfama district, the oldest area in Lisbon, where the soulful sounds of Fado first emerged. The atmosphere here, filled with quaint restaurants and traditional fado houses, is sure to captivate your senses.
Following a fulfilling 4-hour exploration, we will conclude our tour by returning to the original meeting point.
