Your experience begins with a timely pick-up from your hotel, followed by a scenic drive towards Curral das Freiras, renowned for its breathtaking vistas.

The initial destination is the charming village located near Funchal, specifically the parish of Monte, famous for its unique mode of transport.

What could it be? Cars or perhaps trains? No, instead, in the 19th century, affluent residents of Monte traveled to Funchal in a wicker basket mounted on wheels. Prepare for an enjoyable ride in the Cestas da Madeira, the wooden baskets that navigate through the streets of Monte.

Following this delightful experience, the journey continues to Santo Antonio, where we will pass the field that served as Cristiano Ronaldo's childhood training ground. As we ascend, take in the picturesque landscapes rich with eucalyptus, mimosa, and chestnut trees until we reach an altitude of 1,100 meters (3,608 feet).

Next, we will visit the Eira do Serrado viewpoint at 1,200 meters above sea level. On a clear day, you can revel in the stunning views of Funchal from this remarkable vantage point.

Your exploration of the Valley of the Nuns will take us to the Nun's House and its church, concluding with a delightful tasting of Madeira liqueur.

As the tour nears its end, we will make our way to the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, where exquisite panoramic vistas of Funchal await.

Ultimately, after approximately 3 hours, we will return you to your hotel.

Pickup Information

This tour includes hotel pick-up from several tourist areas in Madeira: Caniço, Garajau, Funchal, and Câmara de Lobos Centro.

For pickups from downtown Santa Cruz, a supplemental fee of 15 EUR per person is applicable, payable on the day of the tour.
