Huaytapallana Hiking Tour
Description
Awaken your adventurous side with a journey through the snow-laden summits of Huaytapallana, perfectly situated in the breathtaking Andes Mountains. Dive into the mesmerizing scenery of one of Huancayo's most enchanting sites.
Tour Highlights
Prepare yourself for an exhilarating climb up the majestic Andes Mountains. The adventure begins when we meet at Huamanmarca Park at the designated time. Once everyone is gathered, we will hop on a minibus headed toward Estancia Huaytapallana, marking the starting point of our trek through this snow-capped wonder.
Prior to embarking on our journey, we will pause for breakfast at the estancia to ensure you are energized and ready. Once replenished, we will set forth on our hike toward the captivating summit of Huaytapallana, a striking natural marvel in the region.
During the ascent, which lasts approximately 3 hours, we will explore the secrets of this Andean masterpiece. You might find it intriguing that "Huaytapallana" means "where the flowers are gathered". As we make our way, the meaning of this name will become clear.
The path will guide us past the Enchanted Lakes, comprising lakes such as Carhuacocha, Cocha Grande, and Yanaucsha. Prepare to capture some stunning imagery!
A highlight of our hike will occur at the midpoint, where we will conduct a ceremonial offering to Pachamama using coca leaves. Our local guides will share insights into this ancient Peruvian custom.
At last, we will reach the climax of our trek, just 500 meters (1,640 feet) below the slopes of Huaytapallana at an altitude of 4,950 meters (16,240 feet). Here, we will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the glacier and the expansive Mantaro Valley.
As our trip draws to a close, we will make our descent via the Abra Yanauchsa route, continuing for about 1.5 hours until we arrive back at Estancia Huaytapallana. You may choose to enjoy lunch on your own, perfect for satisfying any cravings after the trek!
After this remarkable adventure through the snow-laden Huaytapallana, we will part ways at our original meeting point in Huancayo approximately 10.5 hours after we began.
