Nepali Food Private Cooking Class
Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Kathmandu, followed by a 30-minute trip to a residential area. During the journey, you'll stop at a traditional market where you will discover essential ingredients used in Nepalese cuisine and purchase the items necessary to make dal bhat, the emblematic dish of Nepal. This meal includes a bowl of boiled rice, or bhat; a lentil soup called dal; a vegetable or meat curry known as takari; along with a variety of aromatic Asian spices such as turmeric, coriander, and garam masala.
Once you have gathered all the ingredients, you'll proceed to the home of a Nepali family in the residential area. Here, you will be welcomed into their home and, with their assistance, prepare a traditional dal bhat, closely following the authentic recipe. As you engage in cooking, the family will share insights about their culinary customs, deeply rooted in generations of tradition in the Himalayan foothills.
The aromas of dal bhat soon fill the space, signaling that it's time to eat. Gather around the table to enjoy the unique experience of sharing homemade food with your local hosts. This interaction will offer you a chance to learn about their culture as you discuss the differences and similarities between the traditions and food of Nepal and your own. This is a memorable day you'll cherish!
After your meal, bid farewell to your new friends before returning to your hotel in Kathmandu.
