Everest Base Camp Private Trek: 15 Days
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival, a warm welcome awaits you at Tribhuvan International Airport, where our team will greet you. Shortly after, you will be transported in a private vehicle to your hotel situated in the vibrant Nepalese capital, where we will be staying for the next three nights.
Once you are settled, we will enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, indulging in delectable Nepalese cuisine. At the end of the night, we will return you to your hotel for a restful evening.
Day 2: Kathmandu
Good morning! After breakfast, we will embark on a guided tour of Kathmandu, exploring the city’s remarkable sights such as Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and the Durbar Square, renowned for its collection of four out of seven World Heritage monuments.
After absorbing the beauty of these historical sites and the local culture, you will have the opportunity to enjoy Nepalese cuisine at a restaurant of your choice in the center of the city. Later, we will regroup at the hotel to prepare for our trekking adventure that begins the following day. You can unwind at the hotel or continue exploring Kathmandu on your own.
Day 3: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding
Early on our third day, we will travel to Tribhuvan International Airport by private car for a 30-minute domestic flight to Lukla, where you can appreciate the mountain landscapes from above.
Upon arrival in Lukla, we will meet our Sherpa guides who will accompany us on our trek. We will enjoy a hearty breakfast with magnificent mountain views before starting our journey towards the Pasang Lhamo Memorial Gate as we pass through the quaint village of Lukla.
After a brief lunch break, our trek will continue to Phakding, enjoying stunning vistas of the Kusum Kanguru Mountain and the Dhudh Koshi River.
Once in Phakding, we will check into our accommodation and take a moment to rest. If interested, you can accompany your guide for a scenic walk around the village or visit nearby monasteries before dinner.
Day 4: Phakding - Sagarmatha National Park - Namche
Following breakfast in Phakding, we will continue our trek northward, crossing several bridges and a picturesque pine forest until reaching Monjo, where we will complete the entry formalities for Sagarmatha National Park.
Once inside the park, we will navigate through beautiful scenery alongside the Dudh Koshi River, and catch our first glimpse of the breathtaking Mount Everest. After a restful lunch in nature, we will move on until we arrive at Namche, our night stop. After settling in, you’ll have time to explore the village before dinner and bedtime.
Day 5: Namche and its surroundings
Rise and shine! After breakfast, we will spend the day hiking around Namche to aid in acclimatization to the altitude before our ascent to Everest Base Camp.
Our trek to Thame, a historic Sherpa settlement nestled at the base of Kongde Ri Mountain, will take us through charming villages like Thomde, ancient Buddhist monasteries, abundant nature, and stunning landscapes.
After our hike, we’ll return to Namche, allowing some downtime to engage with local culture or relax in a café before enjoying a traditional dinner and preparing for the night.
Day 6: Namche - Tengboche
After a filling breakfast, we will head north, following a trail adorned with Buddhist mani stones in Chhorkung. Along the way, we will experience panoramic views of Thamserku, Amadablam, Lhotse, and Everest before reaching the junction for the Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp at Sanasa.
From Sanasa, we will continue toward Everest Base Camp, navigating through Leushyasa and crossing the Phunki Thenga Bridge to reach Tengboche, where we will check into our lodge.
After settling in, a guided visit to the iconic Tengboche Monastery will enlighten you about the history and offer stunning views of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku.
Day 7: Tengboche - Dingboche
On day seven, we will venture through local forests to the Chaturje Bridge before ascending to Orsho via Somare. Admiring the sweeping views, we will hike over the Khumbu River and follow the banks of the Imja River until reaching Dingboche, where we will spend the night.
After checking into the lodge, there will be time to explore Dingboche before we regroup for dinner and relaxation.
Day 8: Dingboche
Day eight serves as a crucial acclimatization day as we prepare for the ascent to Everest Base Camp. After breakfast, you can select between a half-day trek to Nangkar Tsang Gompa or a full-day trek to Chhukung.
If you choose the first, scenic sights include Cholatse, Taboche, and the lakes at the base of Ama Dablam. Opting for the latter will allow you to appreciate the views of the upper Imja Valley region and, if time permits, a climb to Chhukung Ri for sweeping panoramas of Ama Dablam, Baruntse, and Makalu.
Day 9: Dingboche - Lobuche
After breakfast, we will ascend towards Everest Base Camp, passing through the villages of Dusa and Palrung Kharka before reaching Dughla. We will navigate the Khumbu Glacier, and encounter a series of memorials dedicated to noteworthy climbers and Sherpas including Babu Chiri Sherpa and Scott Fischer, whose journey was depicted in the 2015 film Everest.
Our trek will intensify as we approach Lobuche for check-in and rest. Should you feel up for it, a climb to the ridge east of Lobuche will reward you with panoramic views of the Khumbu Glacier as well as the Nuptse and Lhotse mountains. Alternatively, you may choose to visit the Italian Pyramid, a research facility.
Day 10: Lobuche - Everest Base Camp - Gorak Shep
Today marks a significant day as we set forth after breakfast towards Everest Base Camp along a narrow trail flanking the Khumbu Glacier. Expect some moderate vertical climbs, ultimately leading us to the frozen lake at Gorak Shep, where we’ll pause for lunch surrounded by the stunning Changtse, Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Pumori peaks.
After lunch, we will tackle the Khumbu Icefall and witness the vibrantly colored prayer flags signaling our arrival at base camp. Following a celebratory session of photos, we’ll return to Gorak Shep to check in and rest for the night.
Day 11: Gorak Shep - Kala Pattar - Pheriche
We will rise early to begin our 2-hour ascent to the Kala Pattar viewpoint, where one of the trip’s most memorable moments awaits – witnessing sunrise over Mount Everest. The sight of the sun illuminating the Himalayan peaks will engrave a lasting memory in your mind! This viewpoint will also be the apex of our trek at an altitude of 18,192 feet (5,545 meters).
After soaking in the view and capturing photographs, we will head back to Gorak Shep for breakfast and begin our descent to the village of Dhugla, passing by Lobuche where you may spot a few yaks.
Upon reaching Dhugla, we’ll cross a glacial stream and proceed to Pheriche, our rest stop after a demanding yet unforgettable day.
Day 12: Pheriche - Namche
After breakfast at the lodge in Pheriche, we’ll begin our journey back to Chuto, retracing some familiar trails through Tengboche, Pangboche, and Deboche until we reach Namche, a key hub for mountaineers exploring the Himalayas.
After settling into our Namche lodge, feel free to relax or explore the area on your own.
Day 13: Namche - Lukla
A hearty breakfast will start our morning as we continue our trek. We will descend via the Larja Bridge for a final scenic view of Mount Everest.
After several miles, we will arrive at Phakding for lunch before proceeding to Lukla. Once we reach our destination, you may either rest at the lodge or explore this renowned Nepalese mountaineering town at your own pace.
Day 14: Lukla - Kathmandu
After enjoying breakfast, we will say goodbye to the Khumbu region and take a domestic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon landing back in the capital, a private vehicle will escort you from the airport to your hotel.
You will have the day free to explore any sights of Kathmandu that you may have missed at the beginning of your journey. As evening falls, we'll gather for a farewell dinner, indulging in more delightful Nepalese cuisine while sharing stories from the past two weeks.
