Bonaire Night Snorkeling
Description
Immerse yourself in the enchanting experience of night snorkeling in Bonaire, where you can encounter tarpon, octopus, and moray eels in a vibrant underwater world illuminated by the beam of a flashlight. It's truly a memorable adventure!
Tour Details
Many marine creatures disclose their true behavior only after dusk. To explore this phenomenon in Bonaire's waters, we will gather at the designated meeting point at Kaya Amsterdam.
We will kick off our adventure with a quick safety orientation, followed by the distribution of wetsuits, fins, snorkeling mask, and an underwater flashlight. As we enter the water from the shore, the surrounding darkness will envelop us, creating a serene and almost mesmerizing atmosphere!
The illumination from our flashlights will uncover sparkling corals, resting fish, and nocturnal hunters that venture out under the veil of night. As the sun dips below the horizon, the stars of the Caribbean waters will reveal themselves: the majestic tarpon.
These shimmering silver fish will glide gracefully around us. Reaching lengths over 1.5 m (5 ft), they utilize our flashlight's glow to track down their prey, creating a thrilling hunting display that is captivating yet harmless to humans.
We will not be alone in this adventure; we'll also spot octopuses emerging from their rocky hideaways, lobsters, and squid darting gracefully in the shadows. Every creature we encounter will unveil a hidden truth of this underwater realm that remains concealed during daylight hours.
After enjoying this extraordinary experience for 45 minutes to an hour, we'll make our way back to the shore, still buzzing with excitement from witnessing an intimate ocean ritual. After removing our snorkeling gear and wetsuits, we'll take a moment to reflect.
Ultimately, we'll conclude our journey after this unforgettable hour and a half together. Until next time!
