Tour of Southern Bonaire
Description
Venture into the untouched coastal landscapes, picturesque locales, and stunning salt formations during your journey through southern Bonaire. Unveil the most remarkable sights of this enchanting Caribbean destination—an experience that is truly unforgettable!
Overview of the Tour
At the scheduled time, we will gather at the cruise terminal to kick off our exploration of southern Bonaire.
In the upcoming two hours, we will make several short stops to appreciate the key highlights of this charming Caribbean island. Our adventure will commence with a drive past the Corallium Hotel, renowned as one of the finest accommodations in the vicinity.
Next, our path leads us to the remarkable Flamingo International Airport, famous for its vibrant pink hues. If you enjoy capturing moments, this is your opportunity. Following this, we will explore the iconic salt flats of Bonaire, where the remarkable salt mountains create a breathtaking view alongside the striking contrast of the ocean's blue with the pink waters of the area. Did you know this region produces an impressive 400,000 tons of salt annually?
Continuing our journey, we will delve into history with a visit to White Slaves, an important site providing insights into the old slave quarters that still stand on the island. We will proceed to visit the Pekelmeer Flamingo Sanctuary, one of only four locations globally where flamingos breed. Nestled in a vast salt marsh on the island’s southern tip, this sanctuary hosts over 10,000 flamingos—an unforgettable spectacle!
As we follow the shoreline, we will pass the Willemstoren lighthouse on our way to Sorobon Beach, a popular location for windsurfing enthusiasts. You will enjoy approximately two hours of leisure time at this beach.
After a fulfilling 4-hour journey, we will return to our starting point, bringing the activity to a close.
