Our day begins at 9 am with hotel pickup to embark on an exploration of La Merced, delving into the intriguing past of the provincial capital of Chanchamayo.

Previously, this region was home to three distinct cultures before the arrival of Christian missionaries. In 1635, the Franciscan monk Fray Juan Jerónimo Jiménez traversed the Huancabamba valley to spread Christianity among the indigenous communities.

The tour will proceed with a visit to the main square of La Merced, the very first square established in this segment of Peru's central jungle. Here, you will admire the Matriz de La Merced church, an exquisite colonial structure characterized by its striking reddish pilasters.

Next, we’ll visit the Gallito de las Rocas Zoo, where a variety of native species of plants, birds, and animals await to be observed.

Our adventure continues at the Tirol waterfall, where a 35-minute hike through the Amazon rainforest will lead us to a stunning viewpoint known as La Cruz. From here, breathtaking vistas of the Chanchamayo River winding through La Merced can be enjoyed.

Upon concluding our visit, we’ll return to La Merced and escort you back to your hotel after this enriching five-hour experience.
