Safari Overview

At the scheduled time, you will be collected from your accommodation. Climb aboard a safari truck for a scenic ride to the city of Higüey, approximately a 40-minute drive away.

Upon arrival, your exploration begins at the traditional market of Higüey, celebrated as one of the most vibrant in the Dominican Republic. Enjoy 45 minutes wandering through stalls brimming with fresh fruits, vegetables, and local meats, followed by a visit to a cigar factory to discover the intricate process behind this famous product.

Afterward, we will return to our vehicle to continue our safari through the lush sugar cane plantations of Bayahibe. Learn about the diverse applications of sugar cane and observe the lifestyle of the communities residing nearby. Additionally, you'll get insights into the historical trapiche system, an intriguing method that converts sugar cane into exquisite Dominican rum.

Dive deeper into the heart of the Dominican jungle, where we'll stop at a traditional ranch for a delightful lunch by the riverbank. Here, savor local delicacies such as cocoa, manioc, tropical fruits, and Dominican salami. A beverage will also be included, with choices of soft drink, rum, or water.

Before concluding our adventure, enjoy a picturesque boat ride on the river, surrounded by lush vegetation. You’ll have the opportunity to take a refreshing swim in the cool waters of the river.

The day trip culminates as we return you to your hotel, wrapping up approximately 8.5 hours of exploration.
