Santa María del Tule Bike Tour
Your journey begins with a 7 am pickup from your accommodation in Oaxaca, followed by a transfer to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the starting point of the biking expedition.
As we navigate through dedicated bike lanes, our destination will be the Zapotec village of Santa María del Tule. Upon arrival, we will cycle to several notable attractions, taking in the beautiful facades of the Municipal Palace and the Parish Church of Santa María del Tule, a 17th-century sanctuary showcasing an image of the Virgin Mary.
Your adventure also visits lush green spaces within the municipality, such as Fraccionamiento El Retiro park, where you can dismount to capture memories beside the vibrant 'El Tule' sign.
Next, we’ll visit the renowned Árbol del Tule, an ahuehuete (Montezuma cypress), thought to be approximately 2000 years old! Prepare to be amazed by its grand trunk, which spans over 46 feet (14 meters) in diameter. While you take in the magnificence of this natural wonder, you also have the chance to sample regional dishes at the nearby market.
Finally, we’ll cycle back to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, marking the end of our bike tour after covering nearly 15 miles (24 kilometers). You can expect to return to your hotel in Oaxaca around 10 am.
