Description

Join us on a complimentary walking tour of Oslo, designed to reveal the rich history and vibrant culture of Norway's capital!

Tour Overview

We'll commence our guided free tour at the Tiger Sculpture located in Jernbanetorget Square, the city’s bustling center. This emblematic sculpture, introduced in 2000, epitomizes the essence of Oslo, which is affectionately known as the 'Tiger City'.

From there, we'll proceed to Rådhuset, situated on one of Oslo's oldest thoroughfares, with its origins traced back to the 1620s. This charming area is noted for its historical architecture and its significant ties to the city hall.

Our journey continues to the lively Aker Brygge district, leading us toward the historical Akershus Castle and Fortress. Built in the 13th century, this medieval structure was intended for city defense and royal habitation, serving various purposes, including military and prison functions throughout its long history.

We will also explore Oslo City Hall, the esteemed location for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Finished in 1950, this distinguished building plays a fundamental role in the civic activities of Norway, notably hosting the official prize ceremony every December 10th. During our visit, we'll delve into the intriguing history of the award.

Next, we'll head to Oslo Cathedral, a beautiful Baroque structure established in 1697, and take a leisurely walk along Karl Johans Gate, the bustling main avenue filled with shops, eateries, and entertainment—perfect for a future shopping spree!

We'll then arrive at the Oslo Opera House, a remarkable example of contemporary architecture completed in 2008. This venue, home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, is celebrated for its innovative design and its accessible rooftop, offering stunning views.

As we approach the conclusion of our tour, we'll pass by the Norwegian Parliament, or Stortinget. Erected between 1861 and 1866, this building serves as the cornerstone of Norwegian democracy and showcases exquisite 19th-century architectural style.

After approximately two hours exploring the key attractions of Oslo, we will wrap up our tour outside the Parliament building.
