Legend has it that the last words spoken by Marie Antoinette before her execution on a cold October morning in 1793 were, "Excuse me, sir, I did not mean to do it". The last queen of France spent her final moments in the cells of the Conciergerie, which was repurposed from a stately palace to a prison amid the chaos of the French Revolution.

With your skip-the-line access to the Conciergerie, you can discover the remarkable areas within this gothic masterpiece situated on the Île de la Cité in central Paris. A highlight of the visit is the clock tower, the location of the first public clock established in Paris.

Venture beneath the palace to examine the prison cells, gaining insight into the brutal conditions endured by prisoners during the French Revolution. One notable cell belonged to prisoner number 280, Marie Antoinette, where she faced her last days. Here, you will find personal artifacts belonging to the former queen and delve into her dramatic fall from grace. Could it be true that when informed that the French populace lacked bread, her response was, "let them eat cake"?

Today, the Conciergerie serves as part of the French Palace of Justice, and your skip-the-line ticket also includes access to some of its rooms and facilities.

Language Options

This ticket provides a complimentary information leaflet in English and other languages. Free guided tours are available, but only offered in French. The tours, lasting approximately one hour, vary in schedule based on the day, so if you're interested in participating in one, please consult the staff at the Conciergerie.

Operating Hours of the Conciergerie

The Conciergerie is accessible during the following hours:

• Until December 31: 9:30 am to 6 pm

Last entry is permitted 30 minutes prior to closing.

Special Hours

• On October 15, 2026, the Conciergerie will open at 11 am.
• On December 24 and December 31, the Conciergerie will close early at 2:30 pm.

Free Admission Criteria

Entry to the site is complimentary for:

• Young individuals aged 18 to 25 from the European Union.
• Children under the age of 18, irrespective of their nationality.

To qualify for the free entry mentioned above, you must visit the site's ticket office and present a valid identification confirming your eligibility for a no-cost ticket.

Additionally, entrance is free for everyone on the first Sunday of each month from January 1 to March 31, between November 1 and December 31, and on the third weekend of September.

Access Points to the Île de la Cité

The Île de la Cité is reachable from two distinct points within Paris. You can access the island through either of the following entrances:

• From the right bank of the River Seine (metro stop Châtelet): enter the island via the Pont au Change. Be prepared to present your booking confirmation at the Tour de l'Horloge checkpoint.
• From the left bank of the River Seine (metro stop Saint-Michel Notre-Dame): access the island via the Pont Saint Michel. Show your booking confirmation at the checkpoint located at the intersection of Quai des Orfèvres and Boulevard du Palais.
