Description

Explore a historic medieval palace that was later converted into a prison during the tumultuous French Revolution: uncover the fascinating narrative of the Conciergerie during your exploration!

Conciergerie Admission Ticket

According to legend, the last words of Marie Antoinette were, "Excuse me, sir, I did not mean to do it," uttered just before her execution on a chilly October morning in 1793. The final days of the notorious queen unfolded within the walls of the Conciergerie, an establishment that transitioned from a regal palace to a prison amidst the upheaval of the French Revolution.

Your skip-the-line ticket to the Conciergerie grants you access to the stunning chambers within this gothic masterpiece, situated on the Île de la Cité at the core of Paris. A notable element of the structure is the clock tower, which housed the city's first public clock.

Venture beneath the palace to discover the cells where prisoners endured grim living conditions during the French Revolution. Among these spaces, one cell stands out as the incarceration site of prisoner number 280, Marie Antoinette, who spent her last moments there. Here, you can view artifacts connected to the queen and delve into the story of her dramatic downfall. Is it true that upon hearing about the lack of bread among the French populace, she is said to have retorted, "let them eat cake"?

Today, the Conciergerie also functions as part of the French Palace of Justice, and select areas within the premises can be accessed using this skip-the-line admission ticket.
