La Cocha Lagoon Day Trip
Description
Embark on a journey to explore one of Colombia's most magnificent lakes with this day excursion to the stunning La Cocha Lagoon. Prepare to be captivated by its outstanding natural beauty.
Tour of La Cocha Lagoon
Our adventure begins at the Plaza de Nariño at the specified time, where we will embark on a journey towards the Putumayo region. After a scenic drive of approximately 40 minutes, we will reach our destination. Did you know that this lake is the second largest in Colombia, following Lake Tota?
As we traverse this area rich in natural splendor, we will uncover the glacial history behind this impressive body of water. Our path will take us through the charming village of El Puerto, where we will marvel at the picturesque wooden houses inspired by Swiss architecture that dot the lakeside.
Next, we will visit a local farm, where the resident family will guide us through this self-sustaining hacienda. They will showcase their organic gardens, crops, and guinea pig farms. After the informative tour, we'll savor a traditional meal prepared using fresh ingredients sourced from the farm itself!
Post-lunch, we will head back to the Cocha lagoon, where we will board a speedboat for an exciting exploration of this water reserve. Our journey will take us to the La Corota Island sanctuary, nestled in the heart of La Cocha. Here, we will disembark to enjoy a brief walk while observing the fascinating wildlife and hearing some local legends.
Our experience will conclude as we travel back to Pasto, where a delightful farewell snack awaits. The tour wraps up at the starting point after a remarkable 10-hour journey.
