Pisa Cathedral Guided Tour + Leaning Tower
Description
Experience the blend of art and architecture on a guided exploration of the Pisa Cathedral and the Piazza dei Miracoli, one of Tuscany's iconic highlights.
Guided Tour of the Cathedral and Leaning Tower
We'll convene at Piazza Manin, beneath the Porta Nuova arch, before proceeding to Piazza dei Miracoli.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to several of Pisa's most renowned landmarks. Our journey initiates in the celebrated gardens of the Tuscan region, allowing us to appreciate closely the Baptistery of St. John, which holds the title of the largest in Italy. This circular construction, built in the 12th century, exhibits a Romanesque exterior while offering a stunning Gothic dome adorned with intricate decorations.
Next, we will stroll past the solemn cemetery walls to delve into the architectural marvels of Piazza dei Miracoli. Our visit continues inside the cathedral, where we will embark on a guided exploration of this magnificent edifice. We will trace back the timeline, starting from its inception in the 11th century, uncovering the compelling stories it has witnessed. The interior reveals an exquisite array of artistic creations: mosaics and paintings enveloping the altar, a meticulously decorated tiled ceiling, marble sculptures, and an enormous pulpit.
