Trip Overview

Your adventure begins as we pick you up from your Port Douglas hotel at the scheduled time, ready to embark on an exploration of northern Australia's rich nature.

After about an hour’s drive, we will arrive at the Cattana Wetlands. Here, enjoy a stroll through a lush palm forest surrounding the tranquil Jabiru Lake, while learning about the diverse native species that thrive in this exceptional habitat.

Next, prepare to be mesmerized by the impressive Barron Falls, also known as Din Din. A representative from the Aboriginal village of Djabugay will enlighten you with fascinating spiritual and cultural narratives associated with this stunning site.

For lunch, we will visit Skybury, a historical coffee plantation renowned as Australia's leading producer of papayas. Enjoy a delightful meal crafted from local ingredients, and indulge in the flavors of fresh papaya. Following your meal, take a moment to unwind with a cup of coffee and savor the outstanding views of the Tablelands.

Continuing the journey, we will make our way to Emerald Creek Ice Creamery, where you can sample four delicious ice cream flavors produced in this picturesque agricultural region of the Tablelands.

Depending on your preference, we will either board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or the Scenic Railway. If you opt for the cableway, you will glide high above a tropical rainforest designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enjoy sweeping views of Barron Falls from The Edge lookout, and expand your knowledge of local biodiversity at the Rainforest Interpretation Centre. Alternatively, the Scenic Railway offers one of the world’s most stunning rail journeys, featuring hand-carved tunnels and bridges that cross majestic gorges.

Your day concludes with a bus ride back to Port Douglas, where, after a fulfilling 10-hour experience, we will drop you off at your hotel.

Service Interruptions

Please be aware that construction may impact the cableway on the following dates:

• July 20 to August 18, 2026: Full closure of the cable car; transportation will be provided by bus.
• August 19 to October 25, 2026: The cable car will only operate between Kuranda and Barron Falls, while the rest of the route will be serviced by bus.

As a thank you for your understanding during these interruptions, you will have the option to select an admission ticket to Birdworld or Kuranda Koala Gardens.
