Details of the Day Trip

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your Port Douglas hotel and begin our journey towards Cattana. Are you ready to explore the natural wonders of northern Australia? Let's start!

After about an hour's journey, we will arrive at the Cattana Wetlands. Here, we will have the opportunity to stroll through a forest of palm trees surrounding the tranquil Jabiru Lake. Throughout our walk, you'll gain insights about the native wildlife thriving within this extraordinary ecosystem.

Next, we will visit the stunning Barron Falls, referred to locally as Din Din. An Aboriginal guide from the Djabugay village will share various spiritual tales and cultural knowledge regarding this iconic site.

For lunch, our destination is Skybury, a historic coffee plantation recognized as the primary supplier of papayas across Australia. Here, you will enjoy a delightful meal crafted from local ingredients, complemented by fresh papaya. Post-lunch, unwind with a cup of coffee while soaking in the stunning vistas of the Tablelands.

Our adventure continues at the Emerald Creek Ice Creamery, where you can sample four delicious flavors of ice cream produced in this picturesque agricultural region in the Tablelands.

Subsequently, we'll step aboard the Skyrail Rainforest cable car. This journey will take you high above a spectacular tropical rainforest that has earned a World Heritage designation. From Kuranda, you can marvel at the scenic views of Barron Falls from the renowned Edge Viewpoint and gain knowledge about the rich biodiversity showcased at the Daintree Discover Centre, a center dedicated to tropical rainforest interpretation.

In conclusion, a bus will be available for our return journey to Port Douglas. After approximately 10 hours, we will bid you farewell at your hotel.

Temporary Cable Car Closures

Please note that the cable car will undergo maintenance and will be unavailable on the following dates:

• July 20 to August 18, 2026: the cable car will not operate, and transportation will be by bus only
• August 19 to October 25, 2026: the cable car will run solely between Kuranda and Barron Falls, with the remaining journey by bus

In such instances, guests will be offered a choice between an admission ticket to Birdworld or the Kuranda Koala Gardens as compensation.

Family Ticket Option

During the reservation process, you have the option to choose a family ticket, which accommodates 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 to 14.
