Details of the Day Trip
We will begin our adventure by picking you up at your hotel, setting the stage for an enlightening exploration of Salvador de Bahía. Established in 1549 and known for figures like Caramuru and Paraguaçu, this remarkable city will captivate you with every step you take. Are you prepared to uncover its hidden gems?
Upon our arrival, our first stop will be the renowned Fort of Santo Antônio da Barra, featuring the stunning Barra Lighthouse perched on Ponta do Padrão, providing a breathtaking view worthy of a postcard. This will lead us into the Upper City, where we will visit the celebrated Pelourinho, the vibrant heart and historical core of Salvador. Here, a moderately challenging walk will allow you to navigate its colorful buildings, Baroque-style balconies, and steep cobblestone pathways rich in cultural history.
From the Praça Municipal, we will enjoy scenic views before descending to the Lower City via the Lacerda Elevator, one of the earliest urban elevators. As we progress into the afternoon, you’ll receive some leisure time to have lunch at your own cost, providing an opportunity to refresh.
Later, we will venture to the Sacred Hill, where we will visit the famous Basilica of Senhor do Bonfim. Here, you can engage in local traditions by tying your own ‘fitinha do Bonfim’ to the temple’s gates as you make a personal wish. Our journey will also include exploring the delightful Ribeira neighborhood before concluding at the Mercado Modelo, the largest arts and crafts market in Bahia’s capital, where you will have ample time to purchase unique souvenirs.
Finally, we will return to your hotel, wrapping up our excursion about 13 hours after the initial pickup.
