Upon arrival in Atlixco, you'll embark on a 3-hour tour through its cobbled streets, characterized by vibrant squares, colorful facades, and breathtaking views of the volcano.
During the Day of the Dead season, the town becomes an open-air museum, adorned with large Calavera Catrinas. These figures are symbols of the celebration, merging art, culture, and memory. You will be captivated!
As you stroll past these monumental sculptures, insights about their origin and their role in the Day of the Dead celebration will be shared. The blend of Indigenous tradition and contemporary artistic expression creates an atmosphere rich in symbolism and emotion.
After this enriching experience, your journey will continue to the outskirts of Atlixco, a brief 15-minute car ride away, to admire one of the season's most beautiful landscapes: the fields of blooming cempasúchil.
This flower, known as the Aztec marigold or Mexican marigold, fills the fields with a vibrant orange hue and symbolizes the connection between the living and the dead. You will have the opportunity to walk along its trails, discovering its deep spiritual significance. It is said that its aroma guides souls to their altars.
