Tambopata Photography 8-Day Journey
Day 1
Upon your arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado, we'll head to the serene banks of Sandoval Lake. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to photograph various endemic birds along the river during our scenic journey.
The day concludes at the Tambopata lodge, where you will be accommodated for the upcoming nights on a full board basis. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure, making the most of the lodge’s amenities in anticipation of the activities to come.
Day 2
Get ready for an exciting day! After breakfast, we’ll visit local farmers and agricultural workers in Loero, a region known for its traditional farming practices. Capture striking images of the farms, their livestock, and the workers engaged in their daily activities.
Day 3
On the third day, post-breakfast, we’ll journey to the luscious chestnut fields for a photography expedition. This is an excellent chance to capture distinctive images of the chestnut harvest.
Day 4
Today, we venture underground into the gold mines of Tambopata, providing a unique opportunity to photograph the mining activities firsthand.
Day 5
After a hearty breakfast, we will embark on a quest for endemic birds, aiming to secure remarkable photographs of them perched in treetops or soaring above. Our destination will be the Corredor Bajo de Tambopata, where various viewpoints await, offering sights of the birds and numerous animal species.
Day 6
On our second-to-last day, we will focus on capturing the raw essence of the diverse Amazonian ecosystems. A visit to the secondary forest will allow us to explore various flora and fauna and photograph local agroforestry systems to gain insight into their functioning.
Day 7
How quickly time passes when you’re captivated by the wonders around you! Our final full day involves traveling to the banks of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. We will board a canoe to glide along the waterways, enabling you to take close-up images of river birds like herons, parrots, and macaws. Following our canoe adventure, we’ll return to the lodge to prepare for departure.
Day 8
As our journey comes to an end, we'll enjoy breakfast together before heading back to Puerto Maldonado. You will be dropped at the airport three hours prior to your flight.

This experience includes 7 nights' stay at an ecolodge in Tambopata with full board, covering all meals throughout your stay.

Important information
We'll pick you up at the Puerto Maldonado Airport arrivals terminal.
We recommend getting a yellow fever vaccination before taking this tour.
Adapt your clothes to the climate: Puerto Maldonado, like the whole Amazon, has only two seasons: the rainy season from January to the end of March, and the dry season from April to December. The average temperature is 28 degrees Celsius and the average humidity is 80%.
For the excursions in the jungle we recommend bringing long trousers, long sleeve tops, pocket or head torches, a rechargeable water bottle, and a small backpack to carry water and spare t-shirts.
We also recommend using insect repellent and sun cream, as well as a hat or something similar to protect you from the sun.
