Description

Day 1

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from the Puerto Maldonado airport, where we will proceed to the river port of this charming Peruvian town to board a spacious vessel. Get ready for an immersive experience along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers!

As we travel, a delightful picnic on board awaits, allowing you to take in the breathtaking views of the Amazon rainforest. The journey concludes at a lodge nestled in the jungle, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink.

After settling in, we will participate in an engaging presentation by a local naturalist, focusing on the threatened species found in the Tambopata National Reserve. Following dinner at the lodge, an enchanting evening canoe excursion will give us a chance to spot alligators. After a fulfilling first day, we return to the lodge for a restful night.

Day 2

We will rise early for breakfast before embarking on a 1-kilometre (0.6 mile) trek to reach Tres Chimbadas Lake, a habitat for the renowned Tambopata Giant Otters.

After appreciating these sociable creatures, we’ll take a brief canoe ride across the lake. A picnic follows, after which we will ascend to the tallest wildlife observation tower in the Amazon. The views from its 46-metre (150 feet) vantage point are truly spectacular! Concluding the day, we return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3

Following breakfast at the lodge and depending on your flight’s departure time, we will ensure you arrive at the Puerto Maldonado airport well ahead of your scheduled flight.

4 Day Tour with Parrot Watching

This itinerary mirrors that of the 3-day tour on the first and third days.

On the second day, we will rise early for breakfast and make our way to the Tambopata parrot colpa. The term 'colpa', derived from Quechua, refers to a red clay wall frequented by various vibrant bird species, particularly parrots, parakeets, and macaws. After a picnic break, we will enjoy the scenery from the observation tower before returning to the lodge for dinner. The evening will include a brief nocturnal stroll through the jungle before heading back for the night.

4 Day Tour with Otter & Parrot Watching

For this itinerary, the first day aligns with the previous tour. The second day is dedicated to viewing the giant otters on Lake Cocococha and taking in the vistas from the Amazon observation tower. On the third day, we will explore the Tambopata parrot colpa.

On the final day, an early breakfast at the lodge will precede our journey to Puerto Maldonado, ensuring timely arrival at the airport.

Accommodation

This tour provides 2 or 3 nights of lodging, depending on your selected package, at the Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge. The stay includes full board, covering all meals throughout the visit.
