Description

Explore the enchanting wildlife of the Peruvian Amazon with our 3/4 Day Tambopata Tour & Wildlife Watching, designed for those keen to observe the diverse fauna in this unique region.

Description

Day 1

Your adventure begins with a pickup from Puerto Maldonado airport, followed by a short trip to the local river port to board a spacious boat. Prepare yourself for an exciting ride along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers!

As we journey forth, a picnic will be served on board, providing an opportunity to take in the breathtaking scenery of the Amazon. We will eventually arrive at a jungle lodge where a refreshing welcome drink awaits.

After settling in, a local naturalist will hold an informative talk about the endangered species found within the Tambopata National Reserve. Later, we will enjoy dinner before embarking on a nighttime canoe trip in search of alligators. The day concludes with a return to the lodge for a restful night.

Day 2

Our day starts early with breakfast, after which we'll embark on a 1-kilometer (0.6-mile) trek to the Tres Chimbadas Lake, one of the known habitats of the friendly Tambopata Giant Otters.

Following our time with the otters, we will enjoy a brief canoe ride across the lake. A picnic lunch will follow, and then we'll visit the Amazon's tallest wildlife observation tower, where you can relish stunning views from its lookout point at 46 meters (150 feet). Finally, we head back to the lodge for dinner and some relaxation.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will arrange for your transportation to the Puerto Maldonado airport according to your flight schedule, ensuring ample time for your departure.

4 Day Tour with Parrot Watching

This itinerary mirrors the 3-day tour on the first and third days, with an exciting twist on the second day.

We start with an early breakfast before making our way to the Tambopata parrot colpa, a red clay wall where numerous vibrant bird species, including parrots, parakeets, and macaws, congregate. After a picnic break, we will once again ascend the observation tower for more magnificent views, returning to the lodge for dinner. The day ends with a brief walk through the jungle by night before heading back to rest.

4 Day Tour with Otter & Parrot Watching

This itinerary shares the same path as the 3-day tour on the first day, transitioning to an immersive experience with giant otters on Lake Cocococha on the second day, complemented by views from the Amazon observation tower. Our third day will focus on the Tambopata parrot colpa.

On the fourth day, we will have an early breakfast followed by our return trip to Puerto Maldonado, where we will ensure your arrival at the city airport well ahead of your flight.

Important information

We'll pick you up at the Puerto Maldonado Airport arrivals terminal.

We recommend that you get a yellow fever vaccination before taking this tour.

Adapt your clothes to the climate: Puerto Maldonado, like the whole Amazon, has only two seasons: the rainy season from January to the end of March, and the dry season from April to December. The average temperature is 28 degrees Celsius and the average humidity is 80%.

For the excursions in the jungle we recommend you to bring long trousers, long sleeve tops, pocket or head torches, a rechargeable water bottle, and a small backpack to carry water and spare t-shirts.

We also recommend that you use insect repellent and sun cream, as well as a hat or similar to protect you from the sun.
