Tour Overview

Commencing with a pick-up from your hotel or cruise terminal, we will embark on a 30-minute journey towards the Parque Nacional Isabel de Torres. Upon arrival, an enriching one-hour exploration awaits, offering both a leisurely walk and breathtaking views during the ascent.

At the summit of Monte Isabel de Torres, a pivotal landmark in the region, you will be greeted with magnificent panoramic views of the Atlantic coastline alongside the sprawling city of Puerto Plata. Did you know it stands as the highest point in this vibrant city?

Following this, we'll gather back in the vehicle to visit a rum distillery, where the intricate process of producing Caribbean rum is revealed. Discover the pivotal role that sugarcane plays in the Dominican Republic's economy, culminating in a tasting session featuring an array of rums.

Next, we'll journey briefly to the historic district of Puerto Plata, stopping for around 10 minutes at the Cathedral of St. Philip the Apostle. Renowned for its profound religious significance, this church serves as the focal point of the city’s cultural heritage.

Our tour continues as we stroll through the famed Calle de las Sombrillas and Calle Rosada, iconic streets that have become popular photographic spots. You will enjoy a 30-minute window of free time to relax or explore these charming streets.

Afterward, we will regroup for a traditional Dominican meal, featuring rice, beans, a choice of meat or fish, patacones, and a beverage. For dessert, indulge in authentic artisanal chocolate.

Post-lunch, we will venture to the Malecón to appreciate Puerto Plata's coastal beauty. Our next destination is the Fortaleza San Felipe, a historic fortress built in the 16th century intended to safeguard the bay from raids by pirates and privateers. Interestingly, it ranks among the oldest Colonial fortifications in the Caribbean.

After spending around 20 minutes at this historic site, we will return to our original meeting point, concluding a memorable 6-hour experience.
