Embark on an exploration of the picturesque surrounds of the Cotacotani Lagoons, immersing yourself in the unique volcanic landscape found within this segment of the Lauca National Park.

Your adventure begins at 7 am, when you will be collected from your accommodation in Putre. We will journey towards Lauca National Park, ascending to a remarkable 14,271 feet (4,350 metres) in elevation, where the stunning Cotacotani Lagoons and their encircling volcanoes await your admiration.

The trek commences at the panorama point overlooking the lagoons. Here, the expansive vistas of the Chilean Altiplano unfold, extending towards the nearby Bolivian border and providing a habitat for a variety of alpacas and vicuñas.

As you traverse the periphery of the Cotacotani Lagoons, the impressive silhouettes of the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes come into view, each towering above 19,685 feet (6,000 metres). This majestic backdrop enhances the already breathtaking beauty of Lauca National Park. We will pause at the designated protected area around Cotacotani to take in the stunning surroundings.

A moment of respite will be offered by the shores of the lagoons, where you can enjoy a delightful picnic lunch featuring sandwiches, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, and refreshing natural juices. After recharging, we will resume our journey through the awe-inspiring environment of the Cotacotani Lagoons.

After covering approximately 6 miles (9 to 10 kilometres), we will conclude the hike back at the starting point. From there, we will transport you back to your hotel in Putre, arriving between 1 and 2 pm.
