Description

Embark on an exciting hiking adventure that leads you to explore the ancient cave paintings of Willacaurane. Your journey will also take you to the revered Andean mountain known as Petacane Apacheta.

Hike to Willacaurane & Petacane Apacheta

At the agreed time, our team will pick you up from your accommodation in Putre and commence the trip towards the scenic Andean foothills situated within the Chilean altiplano in the northern region.

Your first stop will be at an altitude of 3460 meters, where we will begin our trekking excursion lasting roughly 7 hours. The initial segment of our hike leads us to Willacaurane, an archaeological gem featuring rock paintings that are estimated to be around 4000 to 6000 years old.

Following our exploration of these ancient artworks, we will proceed to Petacane Apacheta. This Andean peak is often a site for various religious observances, and it marks the location for the second phase of our trek, allowing us to revel in the breathtaking mountain vistas.

During our journey, we will pause to rest and embrace the stunning surroundings while enjoying a picnic filled with sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates, and natural juices. After our meal, we will continue exploring this enchanting natural landscape of northern Chile.

Eventually, we will retrace our steps back to the starting point, followed by our return to your hotel in Putre. You can expect to arrive at your accommodation approximately 6 to 7 hours after the initial pickup.
