Northern Lights Tour
Description
For those traveling to Iceland between September and April, this period is truly optimal for embarking on a journey to witness the northern lights departing from Reykjavik.
Understanding The Northern Lights
The Northern Lights are a captivating display resulting from solar particles entering the Earth's magnetic field and becoming ionized in the atmosphere. This ionization predominantly manifests as green hues, though shades of purple, red, pink, orange, or blue can also be visible.
Beyond their scientific explanation, this dazzling spectacle leaves awe-inspired observers enchanted, often influenced by age-old folklore surrounding its beauty.
Northern Lights Excursion
If you want to experience the most favorable conditions for viewing the Northern Lights in Iceland, you have come to the right place. Our journey will take us away from Reykjavík to a location free from light interference, which is vital for optimal visibility of the Northern Lights.
Throughout the excursion, we’ll delve into the mechanics behind the aurora borealis, a natural event that predominantly occurs in polar regions, creating stunning multi-coloured swirls across the night sky. The tour also covers the fascinating myths and various forms of auroras that can grace the heavens.
In a serene natural setting, enveloped by darkness, we'll witness the northern lights in all their glory. You'll have the chance to relish this breathtaking spectacle, stroll beneath the vibrant hues, capture photographs, and savor an unforgettable experience beneath the starlit sky.
After an enriching 4-hour journey filled with nature's wonders, we will return to Reykjavík.
Options for the Tour
As you make your reservation, you can select from one of the following options:
- Standard Day Trip: Here, we’ll convene at the bus stop located at Þórunnartún 6, Reykjavík 105, Reykjavíkurborg, IS, and commence the adventure from this spot. After the tour concludes, we’ll return you to the same location in the capital.
- VIP Day Trip: If you prefer this option, we will personally collect you from your accommodation in Reykjavík using a minibus. Following the tour, we’ll escort you back to where you are staying. This choice also includes hot chocolate and traditional sweets, creating a cozy and enjoyable atmosphere to relish this extraordinary moment.
Key Information
Due to the unpredictable nature of this phenomenon, ensuring a sighting of the Northern Lights is not guaranteed. If they fail to appear during the tour, an alternative viewing opportunity will be provided, though refunds will not be available.
The prime time for observing the Northern Lights in Iceland spans September to April, with possibilities of sightings occasionally beginning in late August. It’s crucial that the sky is as dark as possible and that artificial lighting is kept to a minimum.
