Snaefellsnes Day Trip
Description
The Snæfellsjökull National Park is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. This day trip from Reykjavik offers an opportunity to discover black sand beaches, charming villages, the stunning Kirkjufell mountain, and much more!
Activity Details
At the designated time, you will be collected from your chosen location in Reykjavik and embark on a scenic adventure through Iceland's interior. Soon, we will reach Kirkjufell, famously known as one of Iceland's most photographed peaks, also recognized as the Arrowhead from Game of Thrones!
We will then proceed to the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier, positioned atop a magnificent active stratovolcano. Did you know the summit glistens with eternal snow, visible from the Icelandic capital's bay?
Our journey continues towards the Berserkjahraun Lava Fields, which Jules Verne referenced in his novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. Here, you will observe unique lunar landscapes, sparkling waterfalls, tranquil lakes, and flowing rivers. We'll also take in the rocky coastlines and quaint fishing villages, where the coastal ambiance of the past still lingers.
Next, we will explore the famous black sand beach at Djúpalónssandur. Are you familiar with the shipwreck that took place here in 1948? We'll uncover that tale!
As we continue, we will visit the Arnarstapi coast and the iconic black church of Buðarkirkja?, whose unadorned yet striking architecture brilliantly contrasts with the surrounding natural beauty.
Our route will bring us to Ytri Tunga Beach. Here, a seal colony is often sighted (particularly during summer months), and we'll enjoy a traditional meal at a local farm. Guests have the option to bring their own food if preferred.
Eventually, we will head back to our starting point, arriving approximately 11 to 12 hours after the activity begins.
