Activity Overview

Prepare yourself for an extraordinary experience amid Iceland's breathtaking volcanic scenery. Our adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Reykjavík at the scheduled time, where we will board our bus to commence this exciting expedition.

As we proceed towards our first location, the geological wonders of the Reykjanes Peninsula will soon captivate you! Our initial stop will be at Lake Kleifarvatn, surrounded by striking black basalt beaches and unique rock formations shaped by past volcanic activity. Following this, we will visit the Seltún Geothermal Area, characterized by its bubbling mud pools and natural hot springs.

The highlight of our journey awaits—a hike to Geldingadalur Valley, the site of the most recent volcanic eruptions. First erupting in 2021, the Fagradalsfjall Volcano continues to draw visitors with its expansive lava fields and emerging volcanic landscape. Our trek will wind through this rugged expanse, allowing us to gaze upon the cooling lava from recent eruptions, including Litli-Hrút in 2023. This part of the hike may take up to 2 hours each way, but the breathtaking vistas are undoubtedly rewarding!

Following our hiking adventure, we will proceed to the Gunnuhver Hot Springs, an area rich in both geological and mythical tales. As steam billows from the ground and the largest mud pool in Iceland churns, we will share the eerie legend of Gúðrun, a ghost believed to guard this dynamic landscape. It's intriguing to know that the geothermal energy generated in this region powers much of the area, providing us with insights into Iceland's innovative use of renewable resources.

Our journey continues toward Reykjanesviti Lighthouse, located on a hill with breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Sea. This historic lighthouse has served as a beacon for mariners since the early 20th century. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the majestic coastline, with its dramatic cliffs and the Valhnúkamöl boulder ridge, which houses an array of seabird species. Be sure to capture some photographs!

We will then visit the notable Bridge between Continents, where you can physically stand between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates! This 15-meter (49-foot) footbridge crosses a rift in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, presenting a unique chance to experience the separation of two continents.

After a full day of exploration, totaling 10 hours, we will return to Reykjavík to drop you off at your hotel.

Option Without Pickup

During the booking process, you can opt for the tour without hotel pickup. In this case, we will convene at bus stop 12 (located opposite Hotel Storm), which can be found at Þórunnartún 6, Reykjavík 105, IS.

Please keep in mind that depending on the hiking schedule, we may not be able to visit Lake Kleifarvatn and the Seltún Geothermal Area.
